This is the first in a new series of posts, and I don’t know how many there will be, on chocolate.
Because chocolate.
My intention is to share some unusual chocolate thing and tell you why it’s remarkable.
So, as you may have heard, my war unicorns Nova & Reaver won the Equus Battle Royal. While I totally played it cool, inside I was doing a Snoopy dance and singing something like this:

So, I’d promised that if Nova & Reaver went all the way, I would read you a snippet from an upcoming story. Since you got an excerpt of “Rue the Day” in the Equus battle, I decided to read something from a different story, but one that’s also coming soon.

I asked for help when Nova & Reaver made the #EquusFight semi-finals, and you came out in droves. Herds. Voting closed at 100-33 in favor of the trained war unicorns. You rock.

The drama continues over at #EquusFight, the contest where the equine stars of the anthology Equus are pitted against one another in a Battle Royale!
My trained war unicorns Nova and Reaver made it through the first competition, but they are neck-and-neck with a Sleipnir-inspired rival. Now, normally you know I’d be all supportive of Sleipnir, because of The Songweaver’s Vow and other stories, but not this time. This time it’s war. Unicorn war.
Today is the launch day for Arbiter, a YA dystopian fantasy by Jamie Foley. And let me start off by saying, hold everything and look at this cover.

I need your help! Today is the first round of the Equus Battle Royale, and my war unicorns are up!
I botched it tonight.
Someone asked our panel about writing in a traditionally male-dominated (both as authors and heroes) genre, as a woman. And several women writers were invited to answer, but with the clock ticking on the last moments of our chat time.
I was discombobulated by trying to formulate both a comprehensive and brief answer under the countdown, and even more so by another panelist’s previous assertion that white males were the cause of the downfall of society — a statement I found untrue as well as unfair to the white male panelists sitting on either side of me at the time, not freaking out about being outnumbered on the panel.
