Quoth the raven, NaNo More! by Timekeeper Art

It’s been a rough couple of scenes….

I’m at our annual creative retreat, working on rewrites for Kin & Kind, the final installment of the Shard & Shield trilogy.

We are six writers and artists, including K.T. Ivanrest, Timekeeper Art, “And Sewing Is Half the Battle!”, and Burnt Cookie Books. We are eating obscene amounts of leftover Halloween candy and working on various creative projects. We have a big page on the wall to record achievements, demon tomatoes, in-context and out-of-context quotes, helpful reminders, etc.

Lots of random stuff.

Right now I’m adding new material, and it’s… a bit rough on my story world. My colleagues have added an at-retreat tally to the wall board.

Faithless, with Janeen Ippolito

Today we’ll hear from Janeen Ippolito, editor, publisher, teach, author coach, and author of a number of books including the upcoming Faithless. What’s Faithless? It’s the latest installment in the Ironfire Legacy series, and, well, here’s the back cover copy: One wild night, Shance Windkeeper discovers he’s married… Faithless, with Janeen Ippolito

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Today is my 20th wedding anniversary. (Yes, I was a child bride, or let’s just not do that math.) Today I celebrate Jon, the man in my life. (I mean, Dad’s pretty cool, too, and I’d pick him for a father if I had a choice. But Jon’s… Happy Anniversary to Us!

My New & Improved Walking Desk!

Yes, the pawprints mean the dogs tried it first.

It’s been a while since I started my walking desk experiment and I have finally worked it out. I have a sit/stand desk from Ikea and an elevated monitor, which has really helped my back and neck pain since I no longer look down. (Sorry, laptop in bed and on the couch. I love you, but you’re not good for me.) I had still been using my original treadmill, however, which technically did the job and was undoubtedly cheap. It had a timeout “feature” though and would stop the belt suddenly, which could be quite disorienting if I were in the zone.

It’s #Inktober again!

Today marks the beginning of Inktober, an annual art challenge. I explained in 2017 why I, a writer and a truly terrible pencil/ink artist, would try this, and how it is good for me. This year I’m doing it again.

Today’s prompt was “poisonous,” so I drew a cute little snake. I was actually pretty happy with my pencil sketch; Inktober and Sketchtember really did a lot for me.It’s #Inktober again!

Cover Reveal: Severed Veil

I’ve got a pretty for you today.

Bethany A. Jennings is a marvel. She writes, she edits, she homeschools, she created and organizes the #WIPjoy hashtag game quarterly, and she runs not only her personal and author social media, but also runs the @sandwichmaven Instagram. (Go ahead, but don’t be long, we’ve got a cover over here.) She’s the kind of person you’d hate for making you feel inadequate if she weren’t so darned nice.

And she has a new collection of short stories coming soon. Ready for the cover?

Midnight Run

When you borrow a car, and you put your dogs in it for all of thirty feet while you drive through a gate, and a dog accidentally slaps the old button-style door lock while watching you close the gate, locking your key in the ignition and your phone… Midnight Run

I Am Being Hunted

Yesterday I stepped out through my front door with the dogs, and I walked face-first into a huge spiderweb spread across the frame of the door itself. I clawed the web from my face and hair, and I turned back to see the spider crawling up to the… I Am Being Hunted

One Need Not Be A Chamber To Be Haunted

I encountered this poem while looking for something else entirely a few months ago and I’ve just been waiting for an excuse to use it. No such excuse has conveniently arisen. So, I am just going to share it here.

Part Four: Time and Eternity
LXIX

One need not be a chamber to be haunted,
One need not be a house;
The brain has corridors surpassing
Material place.
