You know that feeling when you arrive at a foreign airport and pull out the SIM card you’ve purchased for your international travels, and you discover that you don’t have a good way to pop open your phone’s SIM card tray? So you curl up in a corner and cycle through paperclips, earring hooks, pen tips, safety pins, and a variety of other improvised tools until you finally force it open?
No? Just me? Okay.
But just in case you have a friend who might ever experience this conundrum, I’ll share my brilliant painfully obvious solution.
I am embarrassed to admit how long it took me to realize that I should just keep a SIM card tool permanently packed, instead of trying to remember to take one. /shame/ But I finally got clever and packed one in my passport case — AND labeled it clearly above the pocket, so I also remember that I have one.
Hey, I’m a little slow, but I get there eventually.
Do you have any travel tips that I haven’t figured out yet?
Don’t forget your dog! What’s an international trip without your dog?
/waves/ Good to hear from you!
And yes, it’s really sad that the dogs can’t always travel with me. I’ll be in Tokyo next week (and teaching a dog seminar, but sadly without dogs of my own) and there’s something about the long flight and the entrance requirements. But I have a petsitter who loves them, and whom they love, and I ask her for daily pupdates and pics!
