Author Trading Cards! I Need Your Thoughts

Hi! Can I get your opinion, please?

I’m making some new author business cards, and rather than doing the same old business card thing, I decided to have some fun with it. So I made myself a card as if from a trading card game. And I’d really love some feedback before I order up a thousand or so of them.

So here’s a sneak peek of my new author cards. Whaddya think?

Please give me your thoughts!

Update: Photos

Due to directly conflicting opinions about photos, I am posting a poll. Which do you like best for the card? Mouse over to see the photos’ numbers or click to enlarge, and then vote below. You can vote for up to two photos at once. Thanks!

  1. Dictionary.com cannot find enmiseration. What does it mean?
Also would suggest at least one more positive attribute besides dark chocolate …

  2. Hmm. Trading cards. I like it. I think I really like it. Maybe I could do that too.

What do the icons mean on the upper right corner of the back?

    • Karen, you should! Your card would be really awesome and fun. And I’ll confess, I was already thinking about the Clicker Expo or KPA faculties and maybe these could be part of a fun game….

And you win the observation prize, too! Those icons represent book formats.

  3. Great idea – Very creative, like you :)

  4. That’s an awesome idea and will definitely stand out.

  5. I love it. Much Badassery! And I think it goes well with your genre.

The only thing I might add is to include your current (or best selling) book title.

  6. Creative and fun, like you – I love it. And KPA faculty trading cards at Clicker Expo would be enormous fun!

  7. Love it! Especially the “character enmiseration” – what a great skill to have. :D

  8. I think the card is seriously cool. (I would expect no less.)

  9. Neither I, my friend, nor the OED knows the word “enmiseration.”
I’d also suggest rephrasing the spec under “Favorite weapon” — maybe “fictional evisceration”? “Eviscerating opponents in fiction” sounds like a “Favorite/most powerful attack” to me, rather than a weapon.
Lastly, maybe put the little icons at the bottom instead?

  10. I couldn’t find enmiseration in my Scrabble dictionary…but maybe it’s just not commonly used. I think your card is really cute though.
