This is a short story that takes place early and unseen in The Poet’s Eye. The connection won’t make sense, not yet, but I think the story can work on its own as just a view over someone’s shoulder in an uncomfortable and uncertain situation, without knowing the complex social and political context. This story was written as part of the 2024 Inklings Challenge on Tumblr.
