Holiday Cards 2025

Every year, I offer to send Christmas cards to anyone who wants one. I’ve sent cards nearly all over the world (still need Africa and Antarctica), and it’s been great fun.

The last couple of years, we’ve had several card tiers to choose from, whether a totally free card or a handmade card with ornament, bookmark, or story to help defray the costs of cards. This year, due to some outside constraints, we’re going to have only the free cards.

Let’s go!

“I want a card!”

Awesome. You sign up, you get a holiday card. No purchase required, just Christmas spirit! Sign up below.

“No bonus tiers? I was already planning to buy an upgrade to help fund the cards.”

You’re awesome, and you get full merit for your good intentions. However, this year there are only free cards. If you still want to help, you can do one of two things:

  1. Buy a book or swag or something (here are some holiday ideas), and that’s definitely helping.
  2. Donate to the Gift-mas fundraiser when it starts later this year and do some good there.

In the meantime, you can sign up for your free card below.

Thank you, and please sign up before the deadline!

Got Questions?

Can I order a card for someone else?

Absolutely! ‘Tis the season for giving, after all.

When do sign-ups close?

I need time to print, sign, and ship, so orders will close on November 8, 2025.

Is this for real?

If you mean am I really sending cards, yes. Every card is hand-signed by me, usually with a colored Sharpie. This year I may use a fountain pen, if I can find the right ink.

What happened to the ornaments and stories and other stuff?

I’m not gonna lie, that’s been pretty cool. The first year that we tried that, bonus tiers came to within just a few bucks of total printing and postage costs, and because I’d spent less on cards than previously I donated $1,000 to a food bank and paid the special needs organization who handmade the custom cards double. Last year I made a stupid typo and so we didn’t make up as much against costs, but you guys were still amazing and supportive.

This year, there are several reasons to suspend the bonus tiers.

First, 2025 has been rough. To be honest, I’ve been struggling. And while I’m making some very deliberate choices for mental well-being, I know better than to promise a new Christmas story on a deadline. I don’t want to disappoint anyone or create more stress.

Second, the organization serving the special needs individuals who hand-made my bonus cards — with extreme excitement! — got new management, and new management diverted all the card output, so I can’t place an order this year.

Third, the company that makes my custom ornaments and things (reminder, this is family) is both replacing broken equipment and moving to a new location in November and December. Ordering cards and ornaments or other items from different suppliers would significantly increase costs (I was getting a competitive rate, without shipping fees), and I don’t want to raise prices on something that’s supposed to be spreading free cheer.

So I’m calling the bonus tiers suspended, and I’d love to bring them back in the future. But this year, we’re back to just free cards for all.

What if I’ve signed up in a previous year?

You’ll need to sign up or order again. For privacy reasons, I do not retain recipient addresses after printing and mailing.
